What is that generic powdery smell in some branded perfumes?

I’ve noticed that many popular perfumes have this powdery smell that kind of takes over the entire scent for me, and I can’t smell the real notes underneath. For example, perfumes like Very Good Girl, Flowerbomb, Born in Roma, most Chanel perfume, Libre (maybe), and Armani Si all have this powdery vibe. It’s not bad, but it kind of prevents me from fully enjoying the perfume.

For instance, many people say Delina Exclusive and Very Good Girl are similar, but I honestly don’t find them alike at all. Very Good Girl has that powdery note, while Delina Exclusive feels smoother and more refined—I can actually enjoy the other notes. I also feel like the lychee note in Delina Exclusive is closer to The 7 Virtues’ Candied Lychee, which doesn’t have that powdery layer and is way easier for me to enjoy.

It’s also not necessarily about price, because other perfumes I love (like Nest Rose Lychee, Clean Reserve perfumes, Lazy Sunday Morning, or most of Byredo) don’t have this generic powdery smell.

Does anyone else know what I’m talking about? Is it a specific ingredient or just a common blending style? Would love to hear your thoughts!
