Fasching

In my neighborhood on the north side of Stuttgart Fasching starts when the “fools” rally up the kids and go to city hall. The mayor attempts to appease the children with candy, but eventually the children’s storm the Rathouse and receive the key to the city.

A few days later there is the fools parade and children’s party.

Then on Ash Wednesday everyone will wash their wallets in the fountain and the children return the key to the city.

It is so awesome! But I am wondering how common this is.
