Whirlwind ending in ghosting. Do I keep trying?

I'd like to say first and foremost, I'm so glad reddit literally has a subform for everything. Going to do a recap to what lead me here...

Middle of November I (33f) met this person organically. He (35m) slipped me his number on a piece of paper. The following week of texts, 6 hours accumulative in talking on the phone, he planned one of the most amazing dates I'd ever been on. I was smitten.... the catch... he accepted a job two days before meeting me in another state. Him and I both agreed to still try and make it work. Before he left we spent more time together and 3 over nights with each other. Communication was fantastic and he seemed to have wonderful emotional intelligence, along with fueling a lot of super deep, and notably cheesy text messages. When he moved conversation for the first week was still great. Photo messages for updates and a few phone calls.

I'd like to say that this person promised, not only in a message but to my face, if things changed or feelings changed they would have no problem letting me know.

Once I made sure it was okay with him, I purchased a $800 plane ticket to see him and made all accommodations to work and travel, and have my tiny human set up with family. The trip set for my birthday weekend and New Years. Wednesday we had a 3 hour long video call and talked about what we would do and how excited we both were. Thursday morning a good morning text and conversation. 3pm, last message from him and now I haven't heard anything in over a week.... I'm absolutely fucking crushed... he promised...

Some things I can admit about myself and insight to what he might be going through:

I have anxious attachment style and I let him know that off the rip. He was understanding to that and did what he could to ease my worries.

His new job demands a lot of work and concentration. He did say when he has to focus that his ability to care for other things in his life horrible diminishes.

Met some acquaintances of his yesterday and spoke with his bonus mom (helped work at a convention I met him at to have this encounter). The friends said "did so and so move already? I reached out last month for some work and never heard anything." The bonus family also said that they call him a flake and that he is notorious for dropping off for months at a time.

I sent him a message a week ago letting him know, if the silence was not corrected by December 10th, I'd cancel my flight. I wanted to afford him space and time if maybe I was too much and hoping he would let me know something. He's watching all of my Instagram stories.... (why on EARTH do guys not block women from their social medias....)

I have sent two messages since the one letting him know I'd cancel my flight. Trying to ebb any conversation... logically, I know I should not because it's desperate and needy... on the flip side, I want to reassure him that, stupidly, I'm still here to seek to understand and listen if there was something bigger going on.

I'm stuck between, do I keep the flight and just go out there to see if he can explain in person. He was a very off the grid person. Only recently got an IG, has FB for just family and close friends, when he was hanging out with me he would hardly check his phone and at night he would leave it in a whole different room.

I've been ghosted before and while it stung, I took feedback and admitted where I went wrong and could do better. Ironically, the day of my flight I also have an appointment with my shrink to help me with the static in my head.

Idk what I'm looking for posting this here, I know I silence is an answer... I've over read into men's health articles for Communication they expect. I've read into avoidant attachment styles, and I've asked for men and women's perspectives.

Do I keep the silence and wait till the 10th?

Do I maybe send one text a week just letting him know I am still thinking of him?

Do I just fly down there and kick open doors to see what the fuck happened? (This is illogical and stupid but damn...)

Thanks for reading this and I know, I'm an idiot.... but I want to keep trying... I want to hope...

TL;DR - met a guy organically. Amazing connections and hang outs, moved out of state for a new job. Ghosted me and I have $800 dollar plane tickets bought. Family and friends have now pointed out, this communication black out, is a trend with him.
