Glass canning lids
I recently started a new hobby, one I've been wanting to get involved with for a long time- canning! I'm a low income person just trying to enjoy better quality food in my life, I really feel that home canning will help me achieve this, and it's fun to do!
Here's the thing- brand new Ball jar lids are horrible. They did create a seal but they're already starting to rust, so I'm not super confident that the seal is going to last. I've done more research and discovered some beautiful Weck and Le Parfait jars that feature glass lids but dang, I would have to be super rich to afford them. They're so fancy and pretty, OF COURSE I want them! Even used, they command a high price. On my fixed income I know they would be out of reach for me.
I've been searching for glass lids that would fit my Ball wide mouth jars, and sadly I cannot find any. It surprises me because other companies are making reusable plastic and one time use tin canning lids that fit Ball jars, but none that are glass.
Why is it like this?! Do you know anyone who makes them? What would it take to get them made, would it be super expensive? Thanks!
