location arrow indicator inappropriately on
I've seen questions about this before (including on apple support forum) but not recently.
As of a couple weeks ago, my iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 17.7.2 (since it's nov release date) sometimes shows a black "location services active" arrow in the upper status area for apps that aren't using location services.
I do have location services enabled, but then selectively disabled for almost all apps. Two apps in particular
- blind, location services disabled
- slack, location services not even requested by app
The first time i noticed this, I went into prefs and saw that blind had somehow gotten location services activated for "when i share", which AFAIK blind doesn't have functionality to share location at all. of course i changed it to "never" and restarted the app.
it seems to be triggered by the app itself, and it is the solid black arrow. this makes me believe it isn't some background system service which i thought uses a hollow arrow or solid blue arrow.
it's not continuous or on every app launch or app use. it goes away after a minute or less.
DAE experience this, or have any insight?
