Itinerary Check - Western Ireland

Hi all! It will be my second time visiting and I'm wondering if anyone has any input on my itinerary? This will be one week in early May. The biggest thing we loved about our last trip was driving around during the day and relaxing at night. We don't need to spend a lot of time in cities, we really liked the countryside and filling our day by hitting different spots since we were up at 5-6am every morning. I’m also really into birdwatching and would like to hit some spots for that too.

  • Day 1 - Fly into Dublin on a redeye, rot at a hotel near the airport & eat at one of the nearby pubs
  • Day 2 - Pick up vehicle early, drive to Cork. Check into hotel and spa in Douglas. Do some spa stuff after driving. Go out in Cork, there's a Japanese restaurant that looks really good, hit some pubs.
  • Day 3 - Leave Cork early, hit some local butchers, explore coast between Cork and Kenmare while waiting on hotel check-in, visit Kinsale and Baltimore for the beaches and birdwatching and get some local produce and bread etc. Check into our cabin at a bed and breakfast in Glengarriff. Cook dinner there.
  • Day 4 - Dingle Peninsula super early. (We really like driving and we would like to do the furthest destination from our base). Get some local honey and check out the cliffs and beaches. If we have time on the way back, drive through Killarney for Sunday Roast. Stop in our village before the sun goes down and grab groceries. Back to the cabin for dinner.
  • Day 5 - Ring of Kerry, breakfast in Kenmare then if we can't do the whole loop at least hit some major spots, ending in Killarney(maybe gap of dunloe if we can squeeze it in) and back to the cabin.
  • Day 6 - Depart County Kerry and head to Doolin area. Still unsure what to do this day. We just want to enjoy the cliffs and views.
  • Day 7 - ??? Galway, I guess? We would like to not have a whole day in Galway and instead push a little further but we shall see.
  • Day 8 - Drive back to Dublin and fly to Scotland in the late afternoon

Really looking for suggestions for spots to hit around Doolin / outside Galway. Thank you <3
