Should I buy MK8D ?

I have an almost 10 years old son who has too many to count Switch games, but we missed MK8D. I'm thinking of getting it so we can play with his 4.5 years old sister.
Is it too late now and it's wiser to wait for Switch 2 and potentially MK9?

PS - my other idea is to get them Mario 3d world.
