Why some people go crazy and steal and some don’t

I get their desperation and the need to get more but why do ppl just loose the plot and rob trap houses and teeth all gone and they look so messed up and the are in another realm of mind set and like man id never wanna steal from people, they just go crazy and steal ice from their friends or randoms, idk how they get that addicted
