Do we need a new name for residents/citizens?

I was talking to a friend whose first language is not English. We got to a topic of slangs and she told me that she thought New Zealanders would be called "Newzzies" because AUStralia = Aussies.

I kinda like that new name? Not more than Kiwi but also almost more?? ^{What is wrong with me}

So my question is this. Has anyone heard "Newzzie" before? Could this be popular someday?
