Early Monk Tips
Just completed Act 1 with the monk and melted the Act 1 boss. There are a few off monk options that really boost the power.
The biggest boost is available from the beginning. Flame Wall. The Monk's kit is built around Elemental yet has no Fire abilities. Flame Wall creates easy Ignites, as well as just boosting DPS. This is further compounded by a cluster of Passive Skills accessible as early as level 14. "Echoing Thunder/Flames/Frost". "Increase Elemental Damage by 30% if you have Ignited/Chilled/Shocked an enemy recently" All you need to do is proc a status effect and all of your Elemental Damage gets boosted, Plus they stack. 30%/60%/90% increased damage on all enemies for triggering status effects in the last 4 seconds. It doesn't even need to be the same enemy. Just throw down a Fire Wall and every time a new enemy walks into the Fire you get a damage boost. Flame Wall>Falling Thunder>Ice Strike>Tempest Bell is such a quick and easy combat opener to proc all 3.
Also for those on controller I've found that putting your regular melee attack on the alt version of the same button helps maintain a good flow even when you run out of Mana. For example I have Ice Strike on RB, and Regular Melee is LT+RB. So when I run out of mana all I need to do is hold LT while still spamming the same button while I pop a Mana Flask or use Falling Thunder to replenish.
