Alienware r12 to 011d EVO caseswap

Finally got around to doing this case swap I’ve wanted to do since buying this old r12 during the height of the gpu shortage. I struggled to find a lot of info online and did lots of this by trial and error, so feel free to ask any question you have if you are thinking of doing the same and I will do my best to answer!

I went with the ROG z590-a motherboard, and swapped the cpu and gpu into a Lian Li 011 dynamic eco case. I originally wanted to use the same pcu but after struggling with hook ups for the better part of a night I went to Best Buy and grabbed a Corsair 850 gold. I plugged it the ram from the r12 just to see if it could swap and it worked fine, but then I removed it and upgraded to a set of 16gb sticks at 3600 that I had picked up with the psu because they were on clearance. Everything else was new with the case! It was stressful but fun, and it’s my first official “custom” built pc!

P.S. the thermal paste on the cpu in the r12 was essentially sand. Absolutely terrible.
