Israel’s inability to formulate a theory of mind for Arabs is going to be their Achilles heel long term

In Israel’s early days there was at least among its top brass an understanding of why the conflict between Israel and its Arab neighbors exists. But overtime that understanding has been overwritten by an orientalist caricature that bares no relation to how Arabs actually think. Israel’s approach to Arab hostility is increasingly just “use maximum force because Arabs only understand strength” and it continues to run into a brick wall because people to work like that.
