what an absolute disaster
it blows my mind how a show of this caliber (s1) could flop this hard. i wouldve understood if the show was decent or okay. but its NOT. its so bad i wanted to shut it off everytime an episode ended but i kept thinking the payoff would be at least enough to make up for all the shortcomings. but holy fuck did it not deliver.
first of all, i had absolutely no interest in all the scenes with the police and them searching for the island. despite the limited time, they kept having screentime even though they add ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the story. its just a fucking cut of how theyre trying to find the island AND THEY NEVER DO. ONLY A TEASER WHERE THEY FOUND AN EXPLOSIVE AND THEY STILL HAVENT INFILITRATED IT. when i watched it with my gf i just had to tell her to skip every scene coz theyre never finding the island anyway its just some massive filler bullshit to somehow set up such a lame plotline.
second, the frontman joining was at least interesting but in the end didnt provide us any sort of backstory for him or what his actual mindset was. yes i know he will be explored more in the third season but thats just shitty writing. at least the first season ended things conclusively even when it was open ended.
characters were okay but not as good as season 1 characters. i didnt care for any of them except the transwoman. i genuinely hate how 456 just fucking killed the whole X team for his revenge plot. they wouldve had a serious chance to leave the game if they got more votes but he abandoned that scenario for his bloodier and stupider plan of fighting the system even when they were seriously outnumbered with limited weapons and ammos. its just so dumb how a guy whos spent years holding a grudge would be as stupid as him. for how hes the main character still i genuinely dont know. season 2 shouldve been just a new set of characters with maybe a brief cameo of 456 coz he doesnt have main character charisma and hes just lame and boring honestly. the okay side characters are surprisingly more interesting than him lol i actually cant stand this season at all. they really shouldnt have made a 2nd season
