For whoever fractured a finger does it hurts a lot even after 3/4 days?

I got my thumb hit with a punch and the day after I couldn't even write cuz of the pain. Now it's been 3 days and I feel pain just if I try to extend it completely and if I touch at the base of the thumb but for the rest is kinda ok. It's swollen but less that before and there's a bruise. I got an rx appointment to make sure it's just a contusion but what you think? Do you think it might actually be fractured? I have to wait 2 more days until I can know.
