am i really in the wrong here?
I'm genuinely wondering, but I'm also just needing to vent a little. Recently I moved out of an abusive household and I still live in the same small town as my mom and sister because as of right now I can't afford it and I don't have anywhere to go. I don't talk to them a lot but we still keep in touch.
My sister and I were planning an outing for my mom's half birthday, which is a family tradition, but it was only vague plans. We knew what we wanted to do but she hadn't gotten back to me with a date yet. That's not just on her, we both could have been more specific. But she texts me this morning asking when today we're going out and names a time that won't work for me.
I'm not gonna get into all the family drama, but my mom always played favorites and once I moved out and left it didn't stop. She's turned my sister against me and it's exhausting. Soon after I moved out my sister even got upset with me for bringing a certain belt and screamed at me over the phone as they drove past my house, threatening to break down the door to come get it. It was completely ridiculous.
I understand that she could have complicated feelings about me moving out, but she seems to enjoy being my mom's favorite and it hurts. She used to acknowledge when my mom would do something unreasonable, now she won't even be around me if I want to say the smallest negative word about my mother, not even just a harmless joke. She seems to think I'm going to try to turn her against our mom but honestly if they're happy together, great. I'm not going to be a part of it though.
Sorry for the vent. If I'm truly in the wrong, I'm not afraid to hear it. I plan to go no contact with my family in the next couple of years, but the last thing I want is to be a part of the problem while they're still in my life. It just really hurt to be called unreliable and a manipulator and told that our relationship isn't worth her time over a simple misunderstanding.
