I need your valuable opinion to help me decide whether I should stop or continue!
I am a female(32). I have pcos since 2019. My major symptom is Hormonal acne.
I had tried Spironolactone and Accutane for a year till 2020.
2021 my skin was fine. Then end of 2022 my skin went super bad again. My doctor put me on Birth control and Doxycycline for 6 months. My skin somewhat got clear but i had other physical and mental side effects. So I stopped both.
2023 was also kind of okay. Not flawless but tolerable. In 2024, i again started having problem with my period and started having the acne. I somehow regulated my period with supplements but my skin was still bad.
So I myself started Tretinoin cream .025 since July. The purge was extremely bad till October. That left so many PIE and PIH. I dropped all my actives. Shifted to gel form since November.
Using tret every night now and still getting the pustules on my jaw and forehead that i used to get during purge time.
Doctor tried to put me on oral antibiotics and accutane. We had to abort those options as im highly reactive to them now mentally and physically.
So now im left without any option but just keep using tret .025 gel. And as a consolation he gave me Erythromycin lotion to put on my active acne. Doctor suggested me to have hydra facial or chemical peel. I just dont know what to do anymore. My face is oily.
I also have constipation so Im focusing on my diet now. Cutting sugar and fried food completely.
My routine:
Morning:
-Wash face with water. -Erythromycin lotion -sunscreen if outside (beauty of joseon)
Noon: -wash my face with Avene cleanance facewash (it has helped me control my oil) - Anua spot serum (it has also helped me balance my spots)
Night: - Oat balm cleanser if there is make up or other creams - Avene face wash - tret .025 gel - Ordinary Moisturiser after 30 mins
All the products itself suit me except for the tret. I sometimes skip for 1-2 days and then i see my face is healing. But the night i use tret, the very next day i get new pustule like acne.
SHALL I KEEP USING TRET OR QUIT IT? Its been 5 months :(
Added a photo from June before Tret. Then another one in midst of the purge and the rest is from today (also with flush to see the redness)
