Every Hint we have Received About the Next Album
Howdy. I’ve decided to compile a list of all the hints and things we know about the upcoming album. Some of these are potential hints while others are very concrete facts we know about the timeline and style of the next album.
1075 The River Interview 2022
The first concrete information about the next album came from this interview at the end of the Icy Tour last year: https://youtu.be/zV1cJ5xkbCI?si=ZD1u1my1MNP5P6rv In it we learned a couple of details: * The next album will be the conclusion to the Trench and Dema storyline. It will put a bow on it and provide us with the answers to many of our questions. * “Redecorate” is the jumping off point and was made to indicate the general direction the next album will go. I took this as an indication that the next album will be more like Trench and Redecorate and less like the sound of the rest of Scaled and Icy. * Tyler has had the ending planned for awhile and he is excited to share it with us.
Instagram Story Post from December 2022
At the end of last year Tyler made a story post announcing that the MTV Unplugged session would not be releasing on streaming service in 2022 but it would most likely come in the following year. In the same story he also whispered the very simple statement: “Also im excited about the music im working on”
It’s also interesting to note that he was sitting in front of a screen at the time and the screen was casting a strong purple light on him which may or may not be a hint as to the color pallet of the next album.
Vessel 10th Anniversary Live Stream
While we had a massive prank pulled on us at the end of the livestream, there were still two very interesting hints as to what was currently in the oven.
Strong Hint While Tyler was showcasing some of his old Demoes for Vessel, there was another .wav file on his laptop that was not a song that we have ever heard before. The file was titled “Im Not Home.wav” which is almost certainly a hint to a new piece of music he was working on for possibly the next album. This was a livestream in front of thousands of people so his laptop would have been checked numerous times for confidential information before streaming its contents so anything on his laptop was almost certainly intentional.
Weaker Hints There were several segments of the livestream including a demo showcase, old video vault, and other fun activities. Throughout the show, they kept referring to one segment that they “may or may not have time to get to”. They never ended up doing the segment but it was titled “Intro to Baking” With how much this was referred to, this very well could be a hint to something and they never had any intention of actually doing the segment. One possible theory is that this was quite literally them saying “We are in the beginning stages of creating this album.” or maybe its an anagram of some kind. Who knows!
South America Tour
During this surprise tour this past spring some weaker hints were dropped at potential future content.
Strong Hint They did several shows throughout this surprise tour. At each show Tyler wore a plain white T shirt. At each show, the amount of black blurryface paint on the shirt increased. At the first show, just the neckline had the black paint on it. By the final show, almost the entire shirt had been covered in black paint.
Weak Hint During these shows, Tyler wore another shirt that featured a purple butterfly on one of the breast pockets. Butterflies were featured on several of the lore puzzles in the past and this is something interesting to note. This very well could have just been a random shirt they decided to wear but I figured it was worth mentioning.
Letter to Fan
Around 6 months ago, Tyler sent a letter to a young fan who had written to him. There were several cute things he put in the letter but the primary thing to note is that he explicitly said in the letter: “New songs coming soon!”
Paul Meany Instagram Post
Around 2 months ago Paul Meany, one of the producers on Trench as well as Redecorate, posted that he was in Columbus, Ohio with Tyler and Josh working on the next TØP “project”. This was very exciting news and the first evidence we had seen in quite some time that large progress was being made on the new album.
Zoo Concert
A few weeks ago, they played a charity concert at a zoo in Ohio. Nothing major was revealed here but Tyler did state “We’ve been working on new music so we may have forgotten the lyrics to these ones [old songs they were playing on stage]”
Update: Charity Event today (10/14)
This is another small but still cool update.

Update: MoistCr1TiKaL Livestream (11/21)
After the Pilots announced new merch for the holidays, someone on MoistCr1TiKaL's Livestream said they just finished doing animation work for Twenty One Pilots. We do not know in what capacity this was but it means something is being worked on/almost done.
Ned's Cozy Fireplace (11/23)
Huge update! We got a 10 hour video of Ned in his cozy cottage listening to mixes of several TØP songs. Altguy Release Date Leak
A very reliable leaker by the name altguy released information about TØP and several other bands over the past few days. He says that the next single for TØP will be released within the next 3 weeks! WE ARE SO BACK
Update: Josh’s Hair is VERY Red (2/12/24)
Multiple pictures have been taken of Josh with a beanie on and you can very clearly see vibrant red hair underneath it. This may or may not be the color scheme of the next album. Personally I think this is an indicator that this album is the end of the cycle and when all is said and done we will be back where we started: Blurryface.
Update: Red Tape Covering the Eyes of every album (2/15)
THINGS ARE HAPPENING. Every single album cover was updated on Apple Music and Youtube to have red tape covering the eyes on each record
Update 2: Fans have been receiving physical letters in the mail from the Sacred Municipality of Dema

Updates 2/17 Release date 2/29
We can now say with absolute certainty that we are getting the single before the end of February. Several leaks, hints, and theories point to the 29th as the MOST likely date of release. It could come out sooner than this based off of other theories but this is the most likely date.
We have a new logo and color scheme!
Posters and billboards have appeared all over the world with a new logo and color scheme. The colors are clashes of red, orange, and yellow to obviously show a raging fire https://www.reddit.com/r/twentyonepilots/s/TRxRVaMpif
Conclusion
These are all the hints that we have about the next album that I can remember. If I have forgotten any please let me know and I will update this post accordingly.
With this list in mind, I have a few thoughts on the potential release timeline for the next album/single.
The chances we get anything in December are incredibly low. Tyler and Josh will be spending the holiday season with their families as they should and I highly doubt we have anything major come out. At this point in the year, I see two possibilities:
- We possibly get a single or a lore drop on dema.org in October or November (maybe on Trenches 5th anniversary which is this week!) and then the full album releases in early 2024.
- We get our first single in early 2024 and the full album releases before the summer.
