Your fav "grower" album of all time?
Been loving reading the responses to my last few posts of this ilk! Certainly a lot more interesting than just the standard "rate my collection" trite.
I'm talking about an album that upon first listening, you didn't really like all that and/or it just wouldn't click. But then, you seemingly just keep getting pulled back into it and gradually, listen by listen, you begin to really like it. And as an extra, what do you think was the primary reason the album grew so much in your own personal estimation? Did you make the wax jump, hear the album in a different format, or did it just "click?"
For me, I gotta go with 'Straight Up' by Badfinger. I went into the record with expectations of a bright, lightweight power pop record that wasn't going to consist of anything of any substance. What I found was a slightly darker, more contemplative, and genuinely intuitive rock album that I've grown to love after accepting what it is.
