[Discussion] 100 Fortitude is overrated

Frequent here, I've repeatly come across people advising others to use 100 Fortitude characters, and not use the 90 max fortitude characters, going as far as saying you have a high chance of losing a character with 90 fortitude later on in the game. While I won't deny having 100 max fortitude characters could be a minor advantage, I can't help but thinking we are overemphasize on the importance of this.

  1. The basics. What is Fortitude (Let's call it FO for now)?

FO is, in short, your character's mental health. It has a max which varies between characters.

FO can be decreased by triggering traps, fail chest opening attempts, and by getting killed and resurrected in battle.

FO increase (heal) overtime. Even when your character is just a pile of ashes.

When resurrected in a temple, there's a chance of failure based on FO, the lower the worse. 1st failure means the corpse is turned to ash, and 2nd failure means the character is gone for good.

  1. Why is 100 FO not that important?

There are 4 tiers of FO. High (Full heart), Medium (Yellow heart), Low (Red heart) and Zero (Gray heart).

I've read that in temple, you should only perform corpse resurrection at above 50 FO, and ash resurrection at 100. This is the main argument vs the 90 FO characters. However: - You still get yellow heart at lower than 50 FO, and I've personally resurrected characters at lower than 50 FO (43 and 34 respectively). - Temple is actually the worst way to resurrect someone, as it cost a hell lot of money to raise a high level character.

- A better way of resurrection is via combat time reversal. If you have a corpse, simply throw a lvl 1 in your party, get that one killed, then choose to resurect the high level corpse. After that, pay 200 for the lvl 1 at temple, and you're done. Can't even get to ash stage with this method. Edit: I've just tried this method again, and it didn't work any more. I think they patched it already. I'm sorry for any hope I might have given you.

Now, in combat, FO affects the side of circle you get when doing time reversal. However, the circle at 90 or 100 FO is virtually indistinguishable between each other (I suspect they are the same). The rate at which FO decreases after a resurrection is also constant, with the 3rd death pretty much means you are gamble with your life to resurrect your friend.

You also have 3 fires, that also refill overtime, as fail safe in case everything goes wrong. Using the fire means your team is reversed to their before battle status, and you can actually run away with most non scripted encounters after using the fire. Not very courageous, but effective nevertheless.

And as a Mausoleum diver, I can confirm that having 0 FO doesn't affect your character's performance in battle. It just means you are almost guaranteed to waste a fire if someone dies.

  1. Conclusion

90 Max FO doesn't affect your resurrection that much. 90 FO just means the character is more susceptible to traps and the treasure chest mini games, as they have less overall FO. So next time you come across a character with high starting stat rolls but just 90 FO, don't worry too much, just use them.

So what do you guys think? Is there anything about FO that I miss?
